Tennessee’s Economy to Benefit Through Climate Act
WHAT: Southern Alliance for Clean Energy will host “Climate Solutions for a Green Economy,” Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10 a.m. EST at the Walter State Community College in Morristown, Tenn. This panel of economists, energy experts and business leaders will examine opportunities for climate legislation to encourage a clean energy economy leading to new jobs and economic development in Tennessee. The discussion will precede the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce’s “Tennessee Climate Change Dialogue.” This is the fifth event in a series of national dialogues attempting to show that climate legislation is unnecessary and may harm the economy. Our participants will rebut these misleading global warming positions, and describe opportunities for clean energy job growth that companies are already pursuing in Tennessee. WHO: Expert panelists will include:
– Dr. Stephen Smith, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy; Knoxville, Tenn.
– Mr. Keith Romig, United Steelworkers; Nashville, Tenn.
– Mr. Russ Nelson, Energy Systems Group; Johnson City, Tenn.
– Dr. Burton English, University of Tennessee; Knoxville, Tenn. WHEN: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. EST WHERE: The panel will be located in the Ron Price Room, Campus Center Building of Walter State Community College in Morristown, and is free to attend. # # # Southern Alliance for Clean Energy is a nonprofit organization that promotes responsible energy choices that create global warming solutions and ensure clean, safe, and healthy communities throughout the Southeast.
