PSC Approves Plant Mitchell Biomass Conversion

The Georgia Public Service Commission voted unanimously on March 17, 2009 to approve Georgia Power’s proposal to convert Plant Mitchell in Albany, GA
from coal to 100% biomass from wood. At 96MW, the plant would require
approximately one million green tons of biomass annually.

SACE is
encouraged by Georgia Power’s commitment and interest in diversifying
their energy portfolio to include biomass.
