Help Strengthen U.S. Climate Bill

Last month a new climate bill passed through a key committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. The American Clean Energy and Security Act has the potential to start reducing our global warming pollution, achieve energy efficiency and create a tidal wave of economic opportunities and new jobs in the clean tech industry. But there’s a problem.

Special interests and big industries have weakened the proposal with bailouts, giveaways Speak Out!and loopholes.

We need you to help strengthen this plan! We could have as little as two weeks before the full House votes on the proposal, making this an important last chance to strengthen the bill in the House.

Right now Congress is hearing more from industry lobbyists more than they are from us!

Contact your Representative now and urge them to make the Markey-Waxman bill stronger so we can get our economy back on track and start to tackle global warming.

We can harness the power of clean energy for America by strengthening the bill in three key ways:

  1. Ensure more clean energy for America and increase what’s called the Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) to 30 percent by 2020.
  2. Restore the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to regulate carbon emissions from coal plants.
  3. Reduce free pollution permits to polluters and use these funds to create more clean energy jobs in America.

President Obama has promised to transform our economy and our future with a clean energy revolution. Don’t let polluters risk it all by getting off to a slow start.
