This weekend thousands of people all around the world will hold events large and small to highlight the need for urgent action to address climate change. You can be a part of this global movement by visiting to join an event near you.

On October 24th local citizens and organizations will host climate events throughout the 350.orgSoutheast in cities such as Atlanta, Asheville, Charleston, Columbia, Knoxville, Memphis, Miami, Raleigh, and Tampa to urge our leaders to walk away from our dirty-energy past towards a clean-energy future. By attending one of these or other events, you will join with people in 171 countries for an International Day of Climate Action.

What is the significance of the number 350? This number reflects the latest scientific data that indicate chartwe need to reduce carbon levels in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million (ppm) to avert the worst impacts from climate change. Scientists have already determined that we’ve passed this "safe zone" of 350 ppm, which is why action is needed now to reduce our global warming pollution.

Join us and thousands around the world for this Day of Climate Action to lay a strong foundation for national and international leadership in developing sound climate and clean energy policy. To find an event near you visit: For more information, contact Jennifer Rennicks at
