Clean Air Act Under Attack
CLEAN AIR ACT UNDER ATTACK!
As Congress returns to work this week, Senator Murkowski (R-Alaska) is expected to offer a “Dirty Air Act” amendment to strip the Clean Air Act of its ability to protect the public from dangerous global warming pollutants.
Passing this “Dirty Air Act” would effectively gut the most important tool we currently have to reduce these harmful air emissions and protect public health. Please take 5 minutes to call or email your senators and urge them to VOTE NO on Senator Murkowski’s amendment. For decades, the Clean Air Act has kept millions of tons of pollutants out of our air and water, and this attack would give the nation’s largest polluters like coal and oil companies a free pass to continue releasing global warming emissions that endanger public health and our rapidly warming environment. Instead of dismantling the Clean Air Act, our senators should be drafting legislation that complements and strengthens these protections and jumpstarts a clean energy economy. Call or email your senators today and urge them to VOTE NO on Senator Murkowski’s amendment. Please join Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and hundreds of allies around the country to defeat this ill-advised amendment so we can refocus all efforts on advocating for meaningful climate solutions in 2010.
Here’s to a strong, clean energy future starting this year!
