Solar Fair and Tour


Spend the first weekend in October seeing Solar energy in action! Kick-off First Friday, October 1st, in Krutch Park Extension by visiting the East Tennessee Solar Fair from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. You can talk one-on-one with local solar industry experts and companies and pick up a booklet and map containing all of the sites on the Solar Tour the following day. On Saturday, October 2, start the day with a free educational workshop about solar energy at Ijams Nature Center from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Following the workshop from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm local homes and businesses that have already "gone solar" will be open for visitors on the self-guided Solar Tour to learn more about installed solar energy systems. Solar Tour booklets will be handed out at the workshop.These events are held as part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour and is sponsored by the City of Knoxville’s Solar America Cities Program, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and local solar industry companies and organizations. Please respect the owners of the tour sites who graciously opened their homes and businesses for visitation on October 2nd. Please do not visit a site outside of the official date and time of the Solar Tour (October 2, 10am – 4pm).
