Knoxville, Tenn. (October 13, 2011) – As the U.S. moves toward vehicles powered by electricity, educating consumers about electric vehicles (EVs) is critical in transitioning from gas/diesel vehicles to electric vehicles. Thus, ETCleanFuels, Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association (KEVA), the City of Knoxville and other EV allies have partnered to host the greater Knoxville area Electric Vehicle Show.

The FREE Electric Vehicle Show will be held on Friday, October 14 at the south end of Market Square and along Market Street from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This event will be a great opportunity for pictures and video as many of these EVs are being brought by their owners who will explain in their own words why they are using EVs!

Attendees will see the latest EVs and in EV charging infrastructure, and have a chance to talk with industry experts about how electric vehicles work and recharge. The event will showcase multiple Nissan LEAFs and Chevy Volts as well as some locally converted electric vehicles. ETCleanFuels and partners will provide general information about electric vehicles and serve as a resource for those interested in learning more about electric vehicles and the supporting infrastructure that is being built in the community.

“Many organizations in our state are pursuing a cleaner energy future for Tennessee. Using electricity as a transportation fuel brings many benefits, not the least of which is creating American jobs and putting our dollars back into our own country,” says Jonathan Overly, Executive Director of ETCleanFuels. “This event is a way to discuss these and other benefits like air quality improvements and push EV education in our region and state.”

The EV show is in celebration of National Plug In Day (NPD) hosted by national partners Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association. NPD will be recognized nationally on Sunday, October 16.

ETCleanFuels is nonprofit 501(c)3 working proactively with regional fleets and citizens to reduce dependence on foreign oil and improve regional air quality and sustainability. It is a voluntary effort that is built on our many partners working together to create positive change in East Tennessee. # # # For more information about the event or ETCleanFuels, visit http://www.ETCleanFuels.org.
