Clean Water Not Coal Ash Cookout and Rally
March 22 is World Water Day, a great opportunity to call for the protection of our French Broad River, groundwater, and local communities from toxic coal ash pollution. Oh yeah, and to have some fun!
We invite you to join WNCA, Appalachian Voices, and others for the Clean Water Not Coal Ash Cookout and Rally at Lake Julian Park from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22. Food, beverages, music, and educational kids’ activities will be provided. Good fun for a good cause!
We will be flippin’ burgers (both meat and veggie), while you learn more about the serious threat posed by coal ash ponds near Progress Energy’s Asheville power plant – and what YOU can do to protect our community from this poorly regulated mess. Then, together, we will create photo and video petitions to remind our elected officials, state and federal agencies, and Progress Energy that clean water is a right for all Americans. Please RSVP if you can so we know how many burgers we need! Send an email to Anna Jane Joyner, at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know you’re coming!
