Wind Manufacturing Opportunities Webinars
The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and the American Wind Energy Association have joined up to present a webinar series: Wind Power Manufacturing Opportunities in the Southeast. Six separate webinars will focus on wind energy manufacturing opportunities in South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky and Florida.
Each 45-minute webinar is an opportunity to learn about the wind energy industry in the Southeast. The region is currently manufacturing wind components, and each webinar will address how to expand manufacturing businesses’ involvement in the wind energy industry. The webinars are FREE.
The U.S. wind power industry showed strength in 2011 on several fronts. The industry continued to deepen its American manufacturing roots, with over 400 U.S.-based manufacturing facilities now serving the industry’s supply chain. On the project development front, the industry built 6,810 megawatts (MW) in 2011—a 31 percent increase over the previous year’s 5,116 MW. Even more impressive: at the end of 2011, more than 8,300 MW of wind power were under construction, setting the stage for a strong 2012. Thanks to those manufacturing and development numbers, the wind industry now employs about 75,000 people in the U.S.
The webinar series is in advance of AWEA’s upcoming WINDPOWER 2012 event – the world’s largest annual wind power conference and trade show — coming to Atlanta on June 3-6, 2012. Participants who register for any webinar are also eligible to attend WINDPOWER 2012 at a discounted registration rate in June.
