Tell the New Congress to Act on Coal Ash!

The Southeast is home to 450 coal ash impoundments holding roughly 118 billion gallons of the toxic, unregulated waste; enough to cover 300,000 football fields a foot deep! But since the Kingston Coal Ash Disaster four years ago, there have been numerous attempts to push inadequate coal ash regulations through Congress.

We need your voice now to let the new 2013 Congress know that the public demands comprehensive legislation that appropriately regulates coal ash as toxic waste and preserves EPA’s authority to regulate such waste.

Tell Congress to pass comprehensive legislation that appropriately regulates coal ash as toxic waste and preserves EPA’s authority to regulate such waste!

Coal ash is polluting waters across the country, yet nothing is being done to protect communities exposed to dangerous toxic chemicals. To date, proposed legislation such as H.R. 2273 and S.3512 was found by the Congressional Research Service to be insufficient to protect human health and the environment. The majority of these coal ash impoundments are unlined, located close to waterways, and have been found to leach toxic heavy metals into ground and surface water.

Take a stand to protect our waters and communities against toxic coal ash:
