Protect South Carolina Waters from Toxic Coal Ash

Santee Cooper has proposed a plan to close the coal ash ponds at its Grainger Generating Station outside of Conway. The site has been polluting groundwater, wetlands and the Waccamaw River with arsenic and other toxic substances for years. Instead of stopping toxic pollution and protecting nearby communities, the plan proposes to leave an unlined landfill full of toxic coal ash in the middle of Conway forever.

At this information session you will get the facts about Santee Cooper’s proposal, learn about the alternatives, and send your public comments to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control asking for denial of Santee Cooper’s leave-in-place plan.
