Coastal Climate and Energy Manager


chris-carnevale-bio-2016Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Chris is SACE’s Coastal Climate and Energy Manager and South Carolina State Affairs Liaison. His work focuses on building a critical mass of support for clean energy as a solution to the impacts of climate change on our coastal region. His work specifically focuses on advocating for offshore wind energy, building opposition to offshore oil drilling, and raising awareness of the disporportionate impacts climate change poses to the coast. Chris is the manager for the Southeast Coastal Climate Network and the Florida Climate Alliance, information sharing networks with the purpose of encouraging collaboration in dealing with climate change along the Southeast coast.

Chris is motivated to be an advocate for clean energy because he believes in the ethic of leaving a place in better shape than you find it. He wants the world to be a cleaner, safer, healthier environment for future generations.

Prior to joining SACE’s staff in 2011, Chris worked with the Community Office for Resource Efficiency in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, implementing regional energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. He has also worked on a number of farms and is on the board of directors of the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute. Chris received bachelor of arts degrees in history and environmental studies from Denison University and a permaculture design consultant’s certification from the Permaculture Institute USA.
