SACE | Southern Alliance for Clean Energy
Jennifer Rennicks, MSc
Director of Policy & Communications
Jennifer joined the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy in 2006 and now directs the policy and communication efforts of SACE and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy Action Fund. An experienced advocate, writer and public speaker, Jennifer serves as the North Carolina state liaison – tracking policy proposals and coordinating with allies and fellow advocates. She also manages the organization’s digital media presence (Footprints blog, cleanenergy.org and cleanenergyactionfund.org); edits all published materials (monthly newsletters, advocacy alerts, press releases, semi-annual reports); develops materials to secure earned media; and fields queries from journalists. For the Action Fund, Jennifer oversees the creation and publication of semi-annual scorecards as well as election results webinars.
Research and volunteer work in Central America in the 1990s inspired Jennifer’s interests in environmental policy and sustainable development, and her children are her primary motivation now in the hope that actions taken today will ensure a livable world in the future.
Jennifer earned a Master of Science in Environmental Policy from the University of Michigan in 2000 and a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University in 1993. Before joining SACE in 2006, Jennifer managed a watershed conservation project (Upstate Forever, Greenville, SC); conducted research ( Southern Environmental Law Center, Asheville, NC and Ecosystem Management Initiative, Ann Arbor, MI); and coordinated community conservation & tourism projects (South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, Columbia, SC).
