Tell our elected officials that you support action on climate change!
“[We don’t have to] choose between the health of our children or the health of our economy. We’ve got to look after our children; we have to look after our future; and we have to grow the economy and create jobs.”
– President Barack Obama, June 25, 2013
Yesterday, the president made good on his promise to act on climate change by issuing a climate plan that meets our obligation to protect future generations.
Will you help us send an overwhelming message of support in the next 72 hours? Sign our petition and share it with your friends and family.
The President’s plan directs the EPA to cut carbon pollution from power plants for the first time ever. This is a huge step for the Southeast, where coal plants contribute an unparalleled amount of carbon dioxide when compared to the rest of the country. In 2012 alone, over 366 million tons of carbon dioxide came from over 80 power plants in eight Southeastern states – many of which are over 40 years old.
That’s why in the next 72 hours we need to send an overwhelming signal that Americans, especially those in our region, are demanding action.
Let our elected officials know that we have a moral obligation to future generations to leave them a planet that’s not polluted and damaged.
Sign the petition in support of the president’s plan.
Americans are feeling the impacts of climate change already from droughts, wild fires and destructive and deadly storms, like Hurricane Sandy.
When future generations look back at the battle to fight climate change, they’ll look at this moment to see who stood to protect the future — and who refused to act. We know which side we have to be on.
Thank you for taking action on this today.
