KNOXVILLE, TN///NEWS ADVISORY/// A private investor and former Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) board member’s proposal to privatize the Bellefonte nuclear reactor project in northern Alabama is fundamentally flawed. Southern Alliance for Clean Energy will offer analysis and a rebuttal of this proposal during a phone-based news event at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. SACE staff will detail serious concerns we have with the proposal to privatize the Bellefonte nuclear reactor project due to high risks and an expensive price tag, including an unfair shift of costs from certain industrial customers to the vast majority of residential and business customers.

News event speakers will be:

  • Dr. Stephen Smith, Executive Director, SACE; and
  • John Wilson, Director of Research, SACE.

TO PARTICIPATE: You can join this live, phone-based news conference (with full, two-way Q&A) at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 by dialing 1 (800) 860-2442. Ask for the “TVA Bellefonte” telenews event. One hour before the event, you can access detailed slides prepared for this event here (http://www.cleanenergy.org/wp-content/uploads/SACE_TVA_Resources_Oct2013.pdf).

CAN’T PARTICIPATE?: A streaming audio replay of the news event will be available on the Web at www.cleanenergy.org as of 5 p.m. EDT on October 29, 2013.
