Making Climate Change Local and Personal
The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) is pleased to announce that Southeast Coastal Climate Network’s (SECCN) webinar series will continue with a presentation of one filmmaker’s experience with framing local extreme weather events within the bigger global climate picture. These webinars are your opportunity to learn about climate and energy issues that SECCN engages in everyday.
Join us for this webinar as we talk with Ben Kalina, Director and Producer of the film Shored Up, a Sundance-award-winning documentary film about sea level rise, coastal erosion and development. While making Shored Up, Ben witnessed sea level rise become a national issue in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. But like so many of the impacts of climate change, sea level rise is first recognized by those whom it impacts directly. Shored Up illustrates how climate change is already affecting our communities, bank accounts, and lives, in coastal and inland areas. The ability to make connections between local changes and global concerns will be key for a broad-based movement that makes climate change a higher priority for voters and citizens.
