NBC6 Reports: Florida Power and Light Faces Lawsuit Over Turkey Point Pollution

Environmental activists have put Florida Power and Light on notice: they will use the federal Clean Water Act to sue the company for polluting Biscayne Bay with industrial wastewater used to cool the Turkey Point nuclear power station.

Offshore Wind Energy & Birds Can Coexist

There is a lot of confusion and misinformation about offshore wind energy and impacts to birds. Since the U.S. doesn't have any offshore wind farms at the moment, we turn to one study conducted in Denmark. This study evaluated flight paths of ducks and geese and found that less than 1 percent of birds flew close enough to a turbine to present any threat of collision. The study concluded that birds generally flew around the wind turbines.
