The 2-MW Buffalo Mountain Wind Project in Oliver Springs, Tennessee has three 660 kW turbines and contribute almost 2 MW of wind power capacity to the state’s electric grid. The Tennessee Valley Authority is spending .4 million to build three wind-powered generators on a 2-acre site on Buffalo Mountain in Anderson County, some 25 miles west of TVA headquarters in Knoxville. The turbines are part of TVA’s Green Power Switch energy program, which lets consumers buy a portion of their power from renewable energy sources.
