Advocate for Climate Action
Carbon pollution is warming our planet and profoundly impacting our planet. The impacts of rising sea levels, increasing droughts, floods, wildfire and extreme weather can be measured in lost lives, livelihoods, homes and businesses, higher food prices and insurance premiums, poorer health and hundreds of billions of dollars in emergency services and disaster relief.
With thousands of miles of coastline, as well as sensitive ecosystems and economies based largely on agriculture and tourism, the Southeast is arguably the most vulnerable region in the United States to a changing climate. Effective solutions that protect our communities, strengthen our economy and ensure healthy communities are essential. Many carbon reducing technologies and policies are available today including renewable energy generation and increasing energy efficiency. By utilizing existing resources and by innovating new technologies and opportunities it is possible to achieve the goal of a carbon-free economy.
