In honor of the two-year anniversary of the largest climate and clean energy law in U.S. history, we’re sharing words from Clean Energy Generation members who have taken advantage of the unprecedented climate funding.
Reed Winckler | August 8, 2024 | Clean Energy GenerationDuring the first several months of 2022, hundreds of SACE members joined thousands of clean energy advocates who spoke up and urged their elected leaders in Congress to pass the largest climate and clean energy law in U.S. history – the Inflation Reduction Act. Since its passage on August 16, 2022, the historic Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has enabled the creation of hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs, brought billions of dollars in investments in clean energy manufacturing across the country, and made it more possible for people like you and me to implement clean, energy-efficient technologies in our own lives thanks to tax credits and rebates. Take a look:
- Billions of dollars in clean energy investment projects that are already bringing economic growth to our Southeastern states
- Over 270,000 new good-paying and union clean energy jobs created as of June 2024, with another 1.5 million potential jobs projected over the next decade
- Over 70,000 – and counting – electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the country, plus EV tax credits that have saved consumers $1 billion since January 2024
- Increased clean energy investments in low-income communities across the country, including bringing low-cost solar to hard-working American families
- Across the U.S., 3.4 million American families saved $8.4 billion on clean energy and energy efficiency investments through the IRA tax credits last year
- Between Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, 559,820 households received more than $1.3 billion in residential clean energy and energy efficiency tax credits in tax year 2023
It’s clear that the IRA is benefitting real people in our communities – and we’ve rounded up some quotes from just a handful of them over the last year to show how. Take their word for it, and click on a quote to read the full story!
Many of our Clean Energy Generation members have used tax credits from the IRA to help make clean energy upgrades to their homes and vehicles more affordable.

Others commented on how, even just two years in, the funding from the IRA is already incredibly important to communities across the region, bringing jobs and workforce training, educational opportunities, and visualizations of a safer, healthier future.

Clean Energy Generation Monthly Member Calls
Since August 2023, we have been hosting Clean Energy Generation member calls as an easy way for anyone interested to learn about inspiring ideas and solutions from the IRA or elsewhere, hear updates from SACE’s Clean Energy Generation team, and meet others from across the Southeast. Every second Friday of the month, we come together to discuss exciting opportunities and funding and share ways to get involved. All are welcome to join and take part in the conversation – from newcomers to clean energy experts, homeowners to renters, and no matter your age, income, or zip code.

How Can You Get Involved Right Now?
In addition to joining a Clean Energy Generation member call, you can help protect the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) by signing this petition. We’ve made significant climate progress through the passing of the IRA, investing in communities across the Southeast, but now this historic climate legislation is being threatened by big polluters and their allies in Congress. Join us in calling on our leaders in Congress to stand up to attacks on federal climate funding!
