Webinar: Demystifying TVA’s Integrated Resource Plan

Officials at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) are deciding how they will meet electricity needs for the next 25 years, and their draft plan could set us up for decades of pollution, higher electric bills, and missed opportunities. TVA develops this integrated resource plan, also known as an IRP, once every five years, and it will guide TVA’s decisions in the coming years about what kinds of power plants and other grid infrastructure it should build, such as investing in energy efficiency and clean solar power, or locking customers into paying billions of dollars on polluting methane gas plants and pipelines.
TVA is taking public comments on their draft plan until December 11. Comments can be either submitted via their online form or emailed to IRP@tva.gov with the subject line, “Draft 2025 IRP Comments.” Your comment, name, and address will become part of the public record.
To help inform residents of the Tennessee Valley of what’s in the plan and how to submit comments, SACE hosted the webinar below on December 4. During the webinar, SACE Research Director Maggie Shober broke down what is—and what isn’t—in TVA’s draft integrated resource plan, why it will matter to all of us for decades, and how to make your voice heard in public comments.
