In Knoxville we’ve spent the last three years taking all kinds of action together, standing up for more solar through Tennesseans for Solar Choice, pushing back on the fixed electric bill fees that counteract energy efficiency that saves people money – and now it’s time to talk about where we go from here. Tennesseans deserve affordable, clean energy, but we’re falling behind the rest of the South. Our communities bear the burden of some of the country’s highest electric bills, while our state lags behind on solar installations and energy efficiency programs that could be creating jobs and lowering our bills. That’s thanks to policies, usually made behind closed doors, that actually undermine those choices. We just elected a Mayor that’s committed to energy and climate issues, and the previous City Council passed carbon reduction goals that we can build off of to make progress for Knoxvillians.
