Friends of the Earth launched two television ads February 25,2010 against the $54.5 billion in loan guarantees the ObamaAdministration has proposed to hand out for the construction of thefirst new nuclear reactors in the United States in thirty years. The30-second television ads, “Family” and “Risk,” will run in SouthCarolina, where two new nuclear reactors are proposed to be built atthe V.C. Summer plant — a site in the running for loan guarantees, andin Georgia, where the first of the Obama Administrations loanguarantees was awarded earlier in the month — $8.3 billion for the twoproposed nuclear reactors at Plant Vogtle.
