What: On Wednesday, December 2, 2009, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Arrington will hold a hearing on the lawsuit filed by Southern Alliance for Clean Energy earlier this year against Governor Perdue and the Georgia Public Service Commission that could prevent Georgia Power ratepayers from having to prepay for building the two proposed Plant Vogtle nuclear reactors. Who: The Honorable Judge Arrington will preside over the case, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) vs. Georgia Power Company, Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC), and Governor Sonny Perdue (in his official capacity). Why: SACE has asked the Court to review the constitutionality of the Georgia Nuclear Energy Financing Act (SB 31) and the legality of the GPSC’s approval of Georgia Power’s request to certify additional nuclear reactors at Plant Vogtle.
